OK, so it's been awhile. 20 days to be exact. I really had to put this all out of my mind in order to not go crazy while we waited for our background checks to come back.
So, we've been waiting for, hoping for, expecting a call from the agency any day now; the one that says "We got your background checks back and your dad finally sent us his reference letter and you're approved and we'll start looking for your baby!"
And I got that call at 10:10 tonight. Actually, it went something like this:
Jane: "Hi, Ashley. It's Jane!"
Ashley: "Hi!"
Jane: "How would you feel about a really fast placement?"
Ashley: "How fast?"
Jane: "Like, tomorrow."
So, there's a birth mom who gave birth last Wednesday, the 20th (that's 1 day before my new nephew, Taki!). Her little boy was 7lbs, 8oz and perfectly healthy. She's really been bugging the agency to place him for her and she's booked a flight out to Salt Lake for tomorrow. She has to fly back home tomorrow night, so she'll be meeting with us for lunch, then seeing a counselor (required and hopefully helpful for her) and then decide if she wants to sign the relinquishment papers. If she signs, she'll get back on a plane to I-don't-know-where and we'll get to take a baby home.
Deep breath, need to buy a carseat! We'll know in the morning if she actually gets on the plane or not. Hopefully she will and we'll meet her in Salt Lake for lunch!
